Course Description: This course provides a study of the relationships between the central powers of the present world and their actions within other global networks. It examines how the agents of economic, political, and social management interfere with the international division of labor, and analyzes the the actions of the economic, political and social organizations in the structuring of power in the global arena. Other topics covered include: globalization and fragmentation; the political-economic transformation of capitalism at the end of the twenty-first century; networked society; regional integration; hegemony and counter-hegemony; central powers: United States, European Union and Japan.
