Course Description: This course introduces the different emphases of municipal logic from the perspective of land and the different traditions of political thought about the distribution and segmentation of power. It focuses on the municipality in Brazil, from its genesis to its current situation, as well as participation, representation, and municipal logic in the federation, in a democratic context. This course examines democratic citizenship and political community. Topics include: municipality in the federation; municipal policy and public management; public budget and budget distribution; relationship between the executive and the legislature; mechanisms for intermediation of interests between the public and the private at the local level; associations and corporate models of organizations.
