Course Description: This course discusses conceptions of linguistics applied to contemporary life in the pursuit of intelligibilities for language issues in professional practice. It explores theoretical conceptions and methodological approaches to the teach and learning of native language and it analyzes the national curriculum parameters. Topics include: contemporary perspectives of applied linguistics; applied linguistics in professional practice; reflections on context of professional practice of language; writing, orality, literacy, and social and linguistic diversity; textual and discursive genres in school and everyday life; field research in public and private schools; elaboration and presentation of pedagogical proposal via classroom and/or distance teaching.
