Course Description: This course covers essential tools utilized in photography and photojournalism. It briefly covers the use of 35mm cameras, and focuses intensively on the use of digital cameras. It presents the diverse types of lenses, flashes, light meters, accessories, black and white labs, and digital printing. The course studies the relationship between photography and journalism, and reflects and contextualizes photographic images to modern society. It also discusses ethical and practical situations inherent to this medium of expression and to the daily exercise of photojournalism. The course is intended for students with at least 20 hours of prior experience in the subject. Assessment is based on evaluations of photos taken and accompanying texts.
