Course Description: This course provides an overview of the ways in which Western economic thought has developed from the time of Adam Smith to the present. In particular, the course explores how the great economic thinkers have addressed the social and economic questions of their times. The course examines the ways in which the science of economics has been created, developed and transformed to this day by a series of great philosophers and thinkers, and explores how the theories, concepts and methods of economics have developed in response to the historical and intellectual challenges of their historical circumstances.
