Course Description: This course is a content and language integrated learning course (CLIL) in English and in French, to help students better understand the French language, as well as basic elements of contemporary French culture. Language and culture should be studied together at the same time, due to their empirical interconnections. To reach this goal, the course focuses on French gastronomy, because food is a key-aspect of contemporary French society and culture. Students explore the historical evolution of French gastronomy, the main cultural habits and rituals, the most important meals and products. Moreover, content and language are practiced together thanks to the creation of a fictional restaurant in class. This course is thus designed for students with an intermediate level in French. It is taught in English, but the audiovisual and textual materials used in class are in French.
