Course Description: | This course is designed to further develop students’ proficiency and communication in the four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The main objective of this course is to enhance the students’ abilities to converse on a variety of topics such as the press, literature, social aspects, education, etc. By the end of this course students are able to speak with ease about a variety of topics, and can hold sustained conversations on a selection of topics, including abstract as well as concrete ideas; read, narrate, and discuss authentic materials in Arabic; have an understanding of the basic grammar structures of Modern Standard Arabic; read and discuss short stories written in Modern Standard Arabic; read texts on a variety of topics and understand the main ideas using the dictionary; and understand various aspects of Arab culture including social customs, religious traditions, and family life. |
