Course Description: This course introduces the basic anatomy of the human brain and nervous system, and how they are employed to achieve everyday human activities, from thoughts to action. It also examines how the abnormalities within the brain can result in psychiatric problems. Course topics include: nerve cells and nerve impulses, synapses, genetics, evolution, development and plasticity, vision, other sensory systems, wakefulness and sleep, reproductive behaviors, learning and memory, cognitive functions and psychological disorders.
