Course Description: This course examines the key conceptual frameworks and selected case studies in global environment and sustainable development. The course first studies how the current global framework of sustainable development is playing and studies how it has evolved. The course visits key issues of global environment and studies how they are dealt with in the international framework. Course topics include: 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals; Acid Rain and Ozone Layer Depletion; Climate Change; Biodiversity Loss; National policies on biodiversity; Deforestation and Desertification; Freshwater Governance; Water and Climate Change; Ocean Governance; Energy; and Renewable Energy.
