Course Description: The course introduces students to the basic movements of West African dance, drumming, and singing. It offers practice of dance techniques based on selected traditional dances from various areas of Ghana and West Africa, with emphasis on style and musicality. The course also places emphasis on movement, technique, body awareness, placement, flexibility, and improvisation. Practical training in dance movements is accompanied by lectures on Ghanaian dances and related arts.
