Course Description:	This course offers a study of “Heimat,” through literary texts. The German word “Heimat” is often referred to as untranslatable. It can be roughly described as referring to the place in which a person is born and raised, but it can also be used to designate a different place, location, or even an ideal concept such as language that makes one feel at home. The course explores “Heimat” through the nineteenth Century, World War II, and post-World War II.
