Course Description: Conflict Studies is a subject that discusses both theoretical and practical knowledge, but is not yet valued in China. In Western Social Studies, Conflict Studies is a School of Theory, and also is a tool for analyzing political and socio-economic problems. It has been gradually brought into the study of political science and international relations. China‚Äôs reform and development has entered a new stage and requires conflict studies theory to analyze, prevent, and resolve conflicts in internal, political, economic, and cultural spheres. This course provides an understanding of the most basic principles of conflict; examines main conflict theorists and their ideas; distinguishes between different types of conflict and their solutions. Assessment: Participation (10%), midterm essay and in-class exam (40%), final in class exam (50%).
