Course Description: This course, which stresses training in reading and writing, enables students to increase their vocabulary, to improve their ability to use and differentiate words, and eventually to enhance their reading and writing abilities. The teaching content consists of articles revealing current social life and ethnic cultures of China. Students need to learn 2000 new phrases, compound sentences, advanced grammatical constructions, how to differentiate synonyms and polysemy, and how to write essays of around 1000 characters. The combination of reading and writing is designed to advance the level of students’ comprehension and promote the use of more sophisticated forms of expression.
