Course Description: This course teaches international students the knowledge of ancient Chinese literature, and with history as a clue to introduce the important writers, literary works and campaigns. It provides general knowledge of the ancient literature development, the art forms of literary works, and with a certain number of ancient literary works. Meanwhile, regarding the features of teaching Chinese, emphasis is placed on the cultivation of students’ language ability and sinology awareness. The content of the first and second semester are respectively literature before Tang Dynasty and that after Tang Dynasty. Text: Selected Works of Ancient Chinese Literature by Guanghe Liu and Junyuan Ye, People’s Literature Publishing House. Assessment: Midterm test and final.
