Course Description: This course examines the history of Rome from its foundation to the period of the Gracchus brothers (753-121 BC). The course focuses on the development of the city’s political, social, and religious institutions, as well as the men who shaped it. The course also offers a study of the expansion and military history of Rome. Students conduct additional research and writing on a course topic of special interest, under the supervision of the study center director.
