Course Description: This course provides understanding of contemporary economic issues in Asian and global economies. This course focuses the growth, structural reform, and financial crisis of the Korean and Asian economy, and analyzes the economic transition and emergence of China and its impact on the world economy. The course also discusses important contemporary global economic developments, such as trade and financial global integration and the global financial crisis and recovery, and their implications for Asia. The course presents economic techniques to analyze various issues and understand current policy debates in Korea, Asia and the world economy. Assessment: attendance (10%) students who miss more than five sessions will receive an F grade for the course; participation (15%), short paper (15%), midterm exam (30%), final exam (30%).
