Course Description: Investment Funds are broad investment classes for both household and institutional investors. The past decade witnessed rapid growth of this industry. Investment funds have been one of the largest investors in global capital and money markets, with total assets counted by trillions of USD. This course intends to introduce three primary groups of funds: mutual funds, hedge funds and private equity respectively. The materials used in this course include: The Hedge Fund Handbook, McGraw Hill, written by Stefano Lavinio, and Private Equity: Transforming Public Stock to Create Value, John Wiley & Sons, written by Harold Bierman, JR. Assessment: midterm paper and a final exam.
