Course Description: This course examines the structure, logic and transition of Japanese economy, the most successful catch-up economy from the end of World War II. After briefly tracing the postwar development, focus turns to the institutional arrangement in three kinds of markets: labor market, financial market and product market and the linkage between these institutional arrangements and the formation and evolution of the competitiveness of typical Japanese corporation.
