Course Description: This course offers an intensive introduction to the basic structures of the Spanish language through the exploration of Argentine culture. The objectives of this course include the ability to request and provide information recognizing the proper use of personal pronouns; communicate time and location, as well as formulate questions; express obligation and future plans; identify objects and persons, the difference between ser/estar; express desire and possibility, comparisons, preferences and personal tastes, cause and effect. The cultural content of the course is incorporated into the linguistic and grammatical components through texts, films, games and songs. Assessment for the course is based on attendance, participation, written assignments, oral presentations, and a final written and oral exam. Textbook: Corpas, J. et al. (2009). Aula del Sur 1.
