Course Description: Terrorism and insurgencies are increasingly identified as a growing source of conflict in the post-Cold War world. This course analyzes the development of terrorism as a form of political violence in the context of the rise of the modern state and international state system. It examines the dilemmas associated with, and limitations of, conventional counter-terrorist responses in countries such as Australia and the United States.
