Course Description: This course introduces the major concepts and approaches employed in the advanced Communication and Cultural Studies courses. The first part of the course demonstrates how written, spoken, and visual communication produces meaning through culturally-specific codes and conventions. Through lectures and tutorial exercises students develop an understanding of textual representation and cultural systems in broadcast and digital media contexts and of some key concepts and debates within Communication and Cultural Studies.
