Course Description: This course studies Swedish language at an advanced level including development of reading and writing skills. Grammar sections include conjunctions, relative adverbs, and indirect speech. Reading includes news articles, scientific articles, and short novels. Students write book reports and reviews. Communicative ability is developed and students are expected to introduce class discussion topics and give oral presentations. Part B specifically improves skills in written and spoken Swedish to the fluency required for the TISUS test (Test of Swedish for University Studies). This course focuses on writing of essays analyzing scientific and literary texts, understanding radio and TV programs, and taking part in discussion. In addition to language learning, students can engage in a variety of cultural activities such as field trips/excursions to points of interest in Sweden.
