Course Description: This introductory Chinese course in taught in conjunction with a student workbook, Chinese character and MP3 CD. Topics and vocabulary include: introducing oneself, family, hobbies, shopping, food, locations, time, transportation, leisure, renting an apartment, study and work, social life, weather and health. After completing this textbook, students should have learned approximately 500 Mandarin characters, 750 vocabulary words and 75 grammatical patterns. At the end of the course, students should be able to understand and use everyday expressions and basic phrases regarding everyday life. Student should be able to introduce themselves and ask/answer questions about personal details.
