Course Description: This course focuses on the international dimensions of strategy and organization, and provides a framework for formulating strategies in an increasingly complex world economy, and for making those strategies work effectively. The first part introduces the background of international business, and the second part provides the basic knowledge of international business, followed by discussions about the environmental challenges for international business. The course also provides a basic framework for understanding international competitiveness and focuses on using and deepening those analytical tools in the context of specific problems and situations. Lastly, the course deals with some emerging issues in the field of international business, including Multinational Corporations (MNCs) in China and survival strategies for local companies in emerging markets, the international expansion of companies from emerging markets, for instance, China.
