Course Description: In the first part of this course, students are familiarized with the conceptualization of the multilayered and multidimensional nature of the process of the European Union (EU) enlargement. Special attention is given to the concept of Europeanisation as an analytical tool useful in analyzing domestic changes in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) in the last decade. The second part of this course focuses on the discussion of the presence of the CEE representatives in the EU institutions, such as Council of the EU (Council of Ministers), the European Commission, and the European Parliament. Students are also introduced to the area of theories of European integration and the new aspects of theorizing about the process brought by the recent eastern enlargement. This is achieved through discussion on selected issues which can illustrate the advancement in theoretical reflection on the process of European integration.
