Course Description: The course consists of weekly projects, which introduce students to a range of skills and conceptual issues relevant to all visual arts disciplines, and provides a foundation for future specialized work. The course introduces students to the application of two-dimensional representation, dealing with issues such as the human form, the dynamics of color, design, composition and pictorial space. Upon successful completion of this course, students are able to: Show understanding of basic processes and material properties relevant to the discipline; Apply a range of introductory technical skills; Demonstrate creative exploration of materials; Demonstrate observation and analytical skills in areas such as 2D and 3D form, color, anatomical study and composition.
