Course Description: This course is devoted to a number of important problems of the political regime, economic structure, interethnic interaction, social life, and popular culture and thought during the Qin and Han periods. The special stress is made on the excavated documents on bamboo and wooden slips, the history and major results of the related research, and on combining transmitted historical record with archaeological data. This leads to students achieving a better understanding of recent developments in the Qin-Han studies. Texts: Qinshihuang benji; Lu Buwei liezhuan. Evaluation: Term paper 100%
