Course Description: In the latter half of this year-long course, students will acquire both general methodological knowledge necessary for conducting scientific research (e.g. the idea of falsification, the meaning of causality and statistical significance) and the skills of some specific methods (e.g. regression, case-study, game analysis). Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking skills sufficient to tackle not only the assigned reading, but also to gain a deeper understanding of political science and its subfields as a whole. Through class discussions, students work to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired through weekly readings to current issues. Assessment: class attendance and participation (30%), final report (70%).
