Course Description: This course introduces students to costume design for theater and film. Through practical assessment projects, students learn how design elements of shape and form are used to convey concepts in relationship to the body. Choice of materials and textures are also considered and examined. Aditionally, costume design drawing skills are taught and enhanced using a variety of media. Students explore the history of costume design in theater and film through lectures, current exhibitions, an through viewings of contemporary productions. No sewing or pattern making skills are required for this course.
