Course Description: In this course, students learn how the key management functions of planning, organizing, leading and controlling, are performed in business and other organizations. Students explore contemporary examples of challenges, and analyze how leaders and managers respond strategically to these challenges. The course introduces students to core management principles and leadership practices which can be applied in various organizational settings, ranging from “big business” to NGOs and start-ups. Contemporary management topics such as innovation and entrepreneurship, managing and motivating people and change, cultural diversity, team structures and environmental sustainability are reviewed. Students are introduced to management theory, research and case studies that develop their ability to manage complex real-world business problems, and to create a workplace where people can thrive.
