Course Description: This course explores the nature and impact of the United States on the international system since the Second World War. It does this by placing the rise of American power in historical perspective, and by providing a theoretical framework within which to understand US hegemony. Particular attention is paid to the military and economic foundations of American power. Additionally, the class considers specific US relations with Europe, Asia, and Australia.
