Course Description: This course offers a foundation of kanji and Japanese vocabulary, as well as autonomous learning skills necessary for university study. Through this course, students learn to read and write approximately 1600 kanji and expand their vocabulary. The course covers both the Japanese and Chinese methods of reading kanji, presents the meanings behind specific strokes, as well as the meaning behind each kanji character. Text: Original materials prepared by International Christian University Japanese Language Program. Assessment: quizzes, homework assignments, and in-class tasks (60%), and final exam (40%).
