Course Description: This course presents the leading economic developments of the United States and provides a solid foundation for further in-depth discussion of various types of US economic thematic issues. The course examines the major US economic indicators; American westward movement, industrialization, modernization, and post-modernization process; contemporary US economic crisis; and US macro-monetary and fiscal policies, how they are formed, and what role they play. The course also introduces China‚Äôs economic issues through comparative analysis; the high degree of correlation between the US and world economies; and concepts and phenomena related to globalization and capitalism. Assessment: quizzes (20%), discussion and participation (40%), final paper (40%).
