Course Description: This course covers the structural and molecular principles that underlie the function of plants and how these principles relate to the use of plants by humans as sources of food, fiber, and fuel. It recognizes the specialized nature of plant anatomy and biochemistry and is a platform for students who wish to gain a sound knowledge of plant growth and development. This course covers the structure of plant cells; anatomy of the major tissues and organs of plants; biochemistry of the main carbohydrate, lipid, protein, and nucleic acid constituents of plants ; and metabolic pathways that regulate plant growth and development.
