Course Description: This seminar focuses on the cultural and political history of Berlin as reflected in its various architectural periods. The course consists of seminars on campus which stress the relation of architecture to cultural trends, and off-campus tours through architecturally significant parts of Berlin which exemplify typical historical motifs, such as Potsdamer Platz, and Stalinallee. Previous knowledge of art and architecture is not required as a prerequisite.
