Course Description: This course offers a study of postcolonial theory and criticism. The course reveals and disentangles the remaining colonial and neo-colonial technologies of power and discusses how they are interconnected with the politico-economic systems of today. Also covered is the colonial project of the past and its new manifestations. The course reviews the different angles from which postcolonial theorists look at the colonial conditions of knowledge and meaning-making, and students discuss postcolonial theorists’ concepts, debates, and challenges. The course provides an introduction to the history of colonialism.
