Course Description: This course focuses on the role played by knowledge during the Cold War. Students discuss the significance of knowledge from different central aspects of the Cold War including the arms race, resource conflicts, ecological crises, and the international scientific community. The course reexamines the dominant narrative of bipolarity in the Cold War. The course is separated into two parts. The first part of the course concentrates on a comprehensive global perspective on knowledge and the Cold War. The second part brings perspectives from behind the Iron Curtain into view.
