Course Description: This course is divided into three distinct research areas: Neurophysiology; Muscle and Exercise Physiology; and Cardiovascular Physiology. Students choose one of these themes for their semester-long project (building a poster which presents a contentious area of the field). Additionally, students explore Physiology as a research-intensive multidisciplinary science; develop and apply skills of critical evaluation of scientific literature, physiological data, and experimental design; understand practical skills and technologies in the solution of scientific problems; communicate the results of Physiological study in both written and oral form; investigate the historical background and evolution of scientific concepts; and foster a sense of intellectual curiosity, the desire for lifelong learning, and the capacity to be creative and innovative.
