Course Description:
This coursea studies the key founding fathers of rural sociology, historical forces that brought the topic into being, and practical uses of sociology. Topics include rural settlement patterns and the factors that influence these patterns in Ghana, the structure of rural economy and the exploitation and utilization of natural resources, the nature of child labor in rural communities, formal education and how it contributes to development, health issues, the concept of rural-urban migration and its consequences, and the agents of change in rural communities.
