Course Description: This course focuses on theories related to gender relations, sexual division of labor, and the relationship and contestations between the private and public domain. The course also looks at the question of access, distribution, and control of assets. An important aspect of the course is the role of women in politics, economics, and social development in Ghana from colonial to post-colonial Ghana. The course delves into international, regional, and national frameworks and protocols and commitments to the question of gender. As an integral part of development, the course pays attention to the impact and role of women in conflict, post-conflict, peace-building, and social reconstruction.
