Course Description: This course examines Spain's international relations from the mid- twentieth century to the present with particular focus on Spain's participation in the institutional development of the European Union. The course includes extended study and discussion of such current issues as immigration, social integration, the war in Iraq, the unification of the educational and health systems, and the proposed E.U. constitution. Students conduct independent research on a topic of their selection resulting in both an oral classroom presentation and the submission of a full-length research paper.
