Course Description:
The course examines the history of post-World War II Germany to reunification. The course covers topics that include: the main stages of the German history of breakdowns, new beginnings and reunions, the tension between democracy and dictatorship, and the changing relationship between the two German states. The final classes examine the reunification process and the social movements leading up to it. Students also study the current state of unified Germany.
