Course Description: The course provides students with an informed understanding of European Union (EU) governance, integration, and enlargement. The course introduces and analyzes the core theoretical concepts and empirical features of European governance, integration, and enlargement. The course covers in detail the history of the EU, the mode of operation (institutions, decision making, and negotiations), various integration theories, and past and future EU enlargement rounds. The course highlights contentious issues and challenges in the ongoing debates about European integration and enlargement, including differentiated integration and the democratic deficit problem.
