Course Description: The course examines China’s socialism after the Economic Reform and the real situation of China's economic growth in a study of Deng Xiao Ping’s theory. By analyzing China’s current economic issues, hot topics, and foreseeable future issues, students can understand China’s history and its social and economic characteristics more thoroughly. After taking the course, students are expected to be able to analyze China’s unique socialism and development achievement from the points of view of Marxism, Maoism, and Deng’s theory. Lecture topics include: China’s economic model reform, China’s corporations system, China’s agricultural economy, the development gap between cities and rural areas, China’s open-door policy, and China's economic progress after entering the World Trade Organization. Assessment: final exam and participation.
