Course Description: Folk literature, unlike written literature, is a special literary style carried by oral language which plays irreplaceable role in daily life. This course gives an overview of the basic theories of the folk literature, as well as the classical oral literary works popular with various social classes. Topics include concept and basic characteristics of folklore literature; concept and characteristics of mythology; content and catalog of Chinese folktale; two-part allegorical saying, proverb and riddle; content and catalog of folk long poem;
