Course Description: This course analyzes international organizations both as an institution and as a process. In this regard, the course explains the purpose of international organizations and asks why international organizations are created and how decisions are made. The course also explores the questions of whether and how international organizations influence world politics by examining the development and activities of international organizations in wide-ranging issue areas. From this course, students will develop a deeper understanding of the evolution of international organizations as well as their roles, processes, and functions in the contemporary world. Assessment: class participation (20%), oral presentation with a written summary (20%, final exam (60%).
