Full UC Title: MACROECOLOGY AND BIOGEOGRAPHY
Transcript Title: MACROECOL & BIOGEOG
UC QTR Units - Division: 6.0 - Upper Division
Course Description: This course explores evolutionary and ecological theories of diversity, while outlining core methods for studying patterns of diversity from a variety of angles. Macroecology and biogeography are the study of spatial and temporal distributions of organisms, and draw upon the complementary disciplines of ecology and evolutionary biology. In this course, students consider spatial patterns of biodiversity from global to local scales and investigate both terrestrial and marine examples. Students use approaches from comparative phylogenetics, community ecology, and landscape genetics to infer underlying causes of extant distributions and project future distributions in a changing world.
