Course Description: This course provides understanding of the major elements of journalism by utilizing and analyzing actual international news events occurring during the semester. More specifically, the course discusses various issues and challenges faced by journalism in today’s socio-political environment, with an emphasis on the visual media, particularly television broadcasting. In addition to actual news events, documentary films such as “Control Room,” “Chasing the Royals” are shown to, and reviewed by, the class to deepen understanding of the role of journalism in relation to the current international political situation.
