Course Description: The European Union is the most advanced form of supranational governance on the planet, yet it is widely tolerated rather than loved. In this course, students gain an understanding of what the European Union is; how its institutions inter-relate and function; the sometimes strained relationship between those European institutions and the member-states; and the role of Euroscepticism in contemporary Europe. The course emphasizes the European Union's emerging foreign policy and contentious questions about the enlargement eastwards into Turkey and Russia.
