Course Description: This course examines the social development leading issues based on the UN ‘Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’ including Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDGs has three pillars of sustainability; economic, social and environmental; however, the course focuses on the sustainability of society. Topics: poverty and hunger; achieving food security and improved nutrition; promoting sustainable agriculture; water and sanitation; fighting disease; and universal health coverage. Text: Tatsukawa, K. et al.(2014), GLOBAL ISSUES TOWARD PEACE. Assessment: Final exam or 2000-word paper (50%), participation (50%).
